The JS Solar Zhou Tie Giant Energy Machinery Photovoltaic Project is a benchmark project for "Industrial Green Power Transformation" within Yixing's "1+2+N" new energy industry system. It deeply aligns with the requirements for "scaled promotion of distributed photovoltaic in industrial and commercial sectors" outlined in the "Yixing New Energy Industry Development Three-Year Action Plan (2023-2025)." Centered on "green power self-sufficiency and cost reduction," the project leverages the rooftop resource advantages of the Giant Energy Machinery high-end equipment manufacturing base to create a composite industrial photovoltaic project that integrates idle space utilization, clean energy supply, and carbon reduction in production.

As the first benchmark case for the construction of a "zero-carbon factory" in Zhou Tie Town, the project fills the gap in the application of photovoltaic integration in high-end equipment enterprises in the region, providing a replicable model for the green transformation of manufacturing in Southern Jiangsu.
Jointly developed by JS Solar New Energy Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Giant Energy Machinery Co., Ltd., the project has a total investment of over 80 million yuan. It utilizes the 42,000 square meters of standardized factory rooftop at the Giant Energy Machinery production site to plan for a distributed photovoltaic system with a capacity of 12 megawatts, operating under the "self-generated, self-used, surplus electricity connected to the grid" model, making it one of the largest rooftop photovoltaic projects for equipment manufacturing enterprises in Yixing.
The project focuses on creating a "Photovoltaic + Smart Factory" characteristic scenario: photovoltaic module arrays are laid out in sections on the rooftops of the Giant Energy Machinery disc separator production workshop, assembly workshop, and storage center, achieving a vertical energy cycle of "rooftop power generation and workshop energy use." The layout avoids workshop ventilation openings and equipment maintenance passages, employing a modular layout to adapt to different rooftop structures without affecting the original production functions and safety standards of the factory.
The project has completed rooftop load testing and photovoltaic layout design and has entered the phase of installing brackets and hoisting components. The supporting 35 kV grid connection cabinet and intelligent metering system are also under construction. Full capacity grid-connected power generation is expected to be achieved in the first quarter of 2026, and once operational, it will become a demonstration benchmark for the integration of "photovoltaic + factory" in the equipment manufacturing sector of the Yangtze River Delta.

The project selects N-type TOP Con high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon modules that are resistant to temperature differences and aging, suitable for the high-temperature and dust-laden operating environment of industrial factories, with a power generation efficiency improved by 7%-10% compared to traditional modules. The module tilt angle is precisely designed according to the geographical parameters of Yixing at 31° North latitude, and with optimized rooftop orientation, the annual effective power generation hours can exceed 1,100 hours, representing a 12% improvement compared to similar industrial photovoltaic projects in the region.
An industrial-level smart energy management platform is being built to integrate three core modules: photovoltaic power generation monitoring, production load matching, and energy storage charging and discharging scheduling, achieving dynamic balance of "power generation - energy use - surplus electricity." Given the load fluctuation characteristics of equipment manufacturing enterprises, a 2-megawatt energy storage system (designed for 30% of daily average electricity consumption) is configured to smooth out photovoltaic output fluctuations, ensuring stable power supply for precision processing equipment, and providing 2 hours of emergency power support in extreme situations.
The photovoltaic brackets are made of lightweight, high-strength aluminum alloy, with a load-bearing capacity of only 18 kg per square meter, far below the factory rooftop's load-bearing limit of 25 kg/m², thus avoiding structural safety risks. A safety distance of 1.2 meters is maintained between the modules and the rooftop fire passage, and the DC cables are made of fire-resistant materials and buried underground, fully complying with industrial fire safety regulations.

Once operational, the project is expected to generate 13.2 million kWh of electricity annually, meeting 65% of Giant Energy Machinery's production electricity needs, directly saving over 7.8 million yuan in electricity costs each year, with an investment payback period of only 8 years. Additionally, through the use of green electricity, it will help the disc separator products achieve "low-carbon certification," enhancing their competitiveness in the international market and is expected to drive an increase in enterprise output value of over 200 million yuan.
Based on the annual power generation, the project is estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 10,500 tons each year, equivalent to the carbon sequestration benefit of planting 290,000 fir trees, helping Giant Energy Machinery achieve a 40% reduction in carbon emissions per unit of output, reaching the carbon reduction target for 2030 ahead of schedule, and contributing 35% of the industrial carbon reduction volume for the construction of Zhou Tie Town as a "zero-carbon town."
The project utilizes photovoltaic modules and inverters produced by local enterprises in Yixing, driving the collaborative development of the regional photovoltaic industry chain. During the operational period, it will provide over 30 operation and maintenance positions, prioritizing the absorption of surplus labor from enterprises for employment transformation. Its successful experience will promote the replication of photovoltaic projects in industrial carriers such as the Helian Innovation Park in Zhou Tie Town, helping Yixing's new energy industry achieve a revenue target of over 60 billion yuan by 2025.
